A tablet PC is different from other PC’s in such a way that it uses touch screen technology. It uses a stylus or your fingertip in making inputs instead of a keyboard or mouse. The X Series Tablet of Lenovo also uses touch screen technology and the regular keyboard as a way for you to input data. This series is often used by educators and executives who need powerful devices to improve their productivity. An added feature in this series is that it is spill-resistant. If you accidentally splash your coffee on the keyboard you don’t have to worry since it is designed to safely drain away any liquid that may try to enter the system.

There is currently one model in this series which is the X200.

If you are looking for an affordable yet powerful ThinkPad then this is where to start. The R series is designed to handle most of your demanding applications without you spending a lot. Currently there are 2 models to choose from in this line which are the R400 and the R500. These models differ in screen size from 14.1 inches to 15.4 inches. What is common among these models is the powerful processor used which is the Intel Core 2 Duo or the Intel Centrino Duo. If you need a business computer then the integrated Intel graphics adapter is best suited for you but if you need faster 3D rendering and blazing frame rates then you could also choose the model with discrete Ati Radeon graphics adapter.

The standard screen size for netbooks these days is 10 inches. If you liked the S9 but had a problem with its 8 inch display then look no further since the S10 has a 10.2 inch LCD display with 1024×600 resolution. Think of the S10 as the bigger brother of the S9. Lets see what this netbook packs.Specifications:
Processor: Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
Memory: 512 MB up to 2GB (Maximum)
HDD: 80GB HDD up to 160GB HDD
Graphics: Intel GMA 950

additional specs: USB 2.0 ports for you to connect your USB devices, a 4 in 1 card reader, external monitor, ethernet port ,802.11 b/g wireless, 1.3 MP webcam, some models have bluetooth.

Basically, the specifications are almost the same as the S9, we are seeing upgrades on the camera and memory though.

Testing the unit:
This Lenovo IdeaPad S10 unit has an excellent build, even though the parts are made of plastic, it is very tough and looks like it could withstand lots of drops from the table. The 6-cell battery model would weigh at 2.80 pounds and would give you an average of 5 hours running time. Programs open up fairly quickly under Windows XP and if you have a 2GB memory then you would see improvement in speeds.

If you are looking for an all around model that’s got a large display then try to consider the S10.

The S series model of Lenovo is made up of the netbook models. For those of you who haven’t heard of a netbook, it’s basically a computer primarily designed to surf the Internet and do emails. It does not have much add-ons as a regular laptop would have like an optical drive for example. Netbooks have evolved nowadays to include a 10 inch LCD display, higher hard disk capacity and higher RAM. Since it was first introduced, netbooks have been gaining a lot of users due to its portability and its affordability.

There are two main models for the S series of Lenovo, the S9 and the S10. Lets try to compare these two models and see which of these suits you better.

Lenovo S9 Model

What you would notice first on this netbook is its 8.9 inch LCD display. It’s small size makes it highly portable, ideal for people who want to bring a netbook that would easily fit in their bag. Don’t let its small size fool you though since this small wonder packs in lots of power. Lets take a look at its specifications.

Specifications:
Processor: Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
This is the standard processor for netbooks today. Intel has announced that it is developing a new Intel Atom processor that is dual core but it would still be released next year.
Memory: 512 MB or 1GB DDR2 ( Maximum)
HDD: 80GB for Windows version and 4GB SDD for Linux version
Graphics: Intel GMA 950

additional specs: USB 2.0 ports for you to connect your USB devices, a 4 in 1 card reader, external monitor, ethernet port ,802.11 b/g wireless, 0.3 MP webcam, some models have bluetooth.

Testing the Unit:
As soon as you hold the S9 you would notice that it has a solid framework. Usually for netbooks this size you would often feel the plastic creaking when you apply pressure to it, not on this model. The keyboard is just about right which is roughly 85% in size compared to a full keyboard. Weighing in at only 2.4 pounds and running at an average of 2.5 hours on the 3 cell batttery, this netbook is the perfect choice if you need something smaller. This netbook is great for sending quick emails and browsing the Internet using WiFi connection at your favorite coffee shop.
